ParishWe are a diverse congregation, ranging from babes in arms to those who have celebrated their 21st birthday many times over. We each have different backgrounds but are united in our desire to worship and serve God, who has uniquely shown us his love in Jesus Christ. We are part of the Church of England (Anglican Church) and we belong to the Diocese of Portsmouth. Saint John's has a Progressive Catholic tradition, which is sometimes known as "High Church". That means, among other things, that we see the Eucharist (Mass or Holy Communion) as our central act of worship. We try to make our services as beautiful as possible, using symbolism and colour and movement.
As a Church we are affiliated to Inclusive Church. If you'd like to check us out, be assured of a warm welcome! Urgent enquiries can be made using the following form:- |

The Bible, as for all Christians, is the first of our cornerstones, and we try to emphasise the importance of finding ways of making the Bible's stories and teachings connect with our day to day lives and our contemporary world.
